Biografia
Formatosi musicalmente a Milano, ha frequentato in gioventù il Conservatorio "Giuseppe Verdi" e, successivamente, ha iniziato la propria carriera di cantante esibendosi nelle maggiori nazioni europee: Svizzera, Svezia, Norvegia, Germania, Austria e Italia con band proprie e di successo. A metà anni 80 fonda il gruppo "Babilonia" con il quale effettuerà numerose tournèe prevalentemente in Svizzera e nei paesi del Nord Europa.
Durante il periodo dal 1973 al 1984 Claudio Parente svolge un'intensa attività dal vivo nei tour effettuati in queste nazioni avendo l'opportunità di cantare in numerose lingue: spagnolo, francese, italiano ed inglese. Allo stesso tempo collabora come session-man con numerosi artisti e svolge un'intensa attività di turnista in sala di incisione in qualità di cantante e batterista.
In questi anni collabora in diverse occasioni con William Marino realizzando e cantando brani musicali che vedranno la luce sotto l'immagine di artisti più noti (ma la voce è sempre la sua!). Nel 1982, chiamato da Banana Joker (Pasquale Petrossi), entra per alcuni mesi nel gruppo "Emisfero Boreale" con il quale incide come cantante alcuni brani tra cui "Rumours from the sky" e "Game Over" e partecipa a diverse trasmissioni televisive in reti private italiane quali Antenna Tre Lombardia e Telecity. Claudio Parente arriva in Australia nel 1984 dopo aver consolidato in Italia e in Europa un notevole bagaglio di esperienza e professionalità.
Le qualità professionali di Claudio Parente vanno decisamente oltre alla sua attività di cantante, Claudio Parente è infatti anche un ottimo polistrumentista ed è in grado di suonare agevolmente: batteria, pianoforte, tastiere e sintetizzatori, chitarre acustiche ed elettriche, chitarra basso. Ben presto si afferma anche in Australia come apprezzato session men e turnista.
Durante questo periodo Claudio Parente realizza uno dei maggiori successi della sua carriera con la vittoria al "Festival della Canzone Italiana d'Australia" del 1985 con il brano "Capire" di cui è anche l'autore. La vittoria al festival apre numerose porte all'attività di Claudio Parente in Australia e in molte altre nazioni dell'area del Pacifico e negli Stati Uniti.
L'attività di Claudio Parente si produce attraverso un'intensa attività televisiva, concertistica, radiofonica, discografica fino all'apparizione come attore nella serie televisiva "Mission Impossible".
Nel frattempo incide il CD "Profumo Italiano" (1986) che è tutt'ora un "best seller" in Australia. Nel 1987 è ospite come cantante di Emisfero Boreale e Banana Joker nella realizzazione di "Future is Bright" alla quale partecipa anche William Marino e che, oltre ad essere pubblicata nel CD "Rumours from the Sky", sarà la demo song degli strumenti Yamaha al SIM di Milano del 1988.
L'attività di Claudio Parente si intensifica negli anni successivi attraverso importantissime e numerose performance della sua band in Australia, Nuova Zelanda e nei principali paesi del Sud est asiatico, la partecipazione ad importanti eventi musicali anche in Canada, un'assidua presenza televisiva ed un'attività discografica tra cui spiccano tra gli altri "Profumo Italiano - vol. 2", "Then & Now" e "Message of a man".
Nel 1998 Claudio Parente realizza lo show "A Tribute to Julio Iglesias" che conoscerà un successo su vasta scala in Australia e che sarà replicato per oltre due anni in Nuova Zelanda, Formosa, Hong Kong, Malesia, Indonesia e Cina Popolare ed al quale partecipa la cantante australiana Carmen Howe (vedi anche lo spazio dedicato a Carmen Howe). Nello stesso anno realizza il CD contenente le versioni originali di "A Tribute to Julio Iglesias". Nel 2001, Carmen Howe diventa Carmen Parente.
Nel 1999 partecipa come ospite in 4 brani al CD "Eleven Eleven" di Banana Joker, svolgendo anche l'attività di co-produttore per "Laser Eyes" e "Dancing my blues away". Continuerà la collaborazione con Banana Joker come cantante e co-produttore per successivi brani italiani quali "Andare via" e "Cerco un mare lontano" appositamente scritti da Banana Joker per la voce di Claudio Parente.
Claudio Parente, unitamente alla sua intensa attività discografica e dal vivo, ha intrapreso anche l'attività di produttore musicale attraverso l'etichetta "Clap Records & Promotions" di Melbourne occupandosi della produzione e della scoperta di nuovi talenti musicali oltre all'organizzazione di eventi, spettacoli e concerti di importanza internazionale (vedi anche pagina dedicata a "Clap Records & Promotions").
Nella primavera 2002 Claudio Parente è stato impegnato in una lunga tournee in Cina, a Singapore e a Hong Kong riscontrando grande successo di critica e di pubblico.
Negli ultimi anni l'attività di Claudio Parente si è principalmente rivolta alla funzione di Produttore Discografico ed organizzatore di manifestazioni artistiche tra cui la più importante è l'organizzazione del Festival della Canzone Originale d'Australia che Claudio ha diretto e condotto nelle edizioni del 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 e del 2007. Attualmente è impegnato nell'organizzazione del Festival 2008 e in nuove importanti produzioni artistiche e musicali. It is often said that one person's loss is another person's gain. This was certainly the case when back in 1984 Claudio Parente decided to leave Europe and set up base in Australia.
That decision ensured the genteel people of OZ instantly gained not only an exemplary citizen but also a very talented entertainer with an artistic baggage brim full of experience, professionalism and enthusiasm.
Claudio was raised musically in the industrial city of Milan, in Italy's north, and was a student at the G. Verdi Conservatory Of Music. Apart from his sensual, melodic singing voice, he also plays piano and keyboards, guitar, bass guitar and drums.
He was still at a tender age when, with his newly formed group, he launched his performing career and began touring not only in Italy but all over Europe particularly in Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Germany and Austria.
Claudio is an accomplished arranger and composer of music and author of lyrics and it was these latter skills which gave him the break he needed when soon after arriving to Australia he won the Festival Of Italian Song staged in Melbourne.
From then it has been a roller coaster ride with Claudio going on to begin a hectic performing schedule intermingled with the recording of a number of successful albums.
The first of these, Profumo Italiano Vol.1 (released through Colossal Records), immediately captured the hearts of the Italo-Australian public and assured Claudio a long list of requests to perform at clubs and festivals Australia wide.
The follow up to the first release also proved a winner but it was a later recording (titled "It Takes Two") which signaled a new chapter in Claudio's career with the combination of his vocal ability with that of female vocalist (and future companion) Carmen Howe.
Together, individually or with their dance troupe they have been performing and providing entertainment all over Australia at concerts and festivals, major Leagues Clubs, prominent Sports Clubs, night clubs and five star Hotels.
Claudio and the team have also been a regular headline act at the Sky City Casino in Auckland, New Zealand, and have on many occasions performed on cruise ships such as those operated by P & O Lines and Sitmar Cruises, on the infamous M.N. Achille Lauro, the Abel Tasman and the absolutely prestigious vessels of Singapore's Star Cruises.
Of the numerous appearances on the Southeast Asian circuit none have proved more exhilarating than when, in September 2000, Claudio stepped out on the magnificent Qingdao Arena in Qingdao, Shandong Province in the People's Republic Of China to deliver, on three consecutive days, what remain the most unforgettable performances of his career to date.
Claudio & Co. were also commissioned to provide daily entertainment for the world superstars of tennis and their guests during the entire duration of the 2002 Australian Open at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena.
Appearances on national television variety shows and radio programs, including the broadcasting of live performances from Canada's Wonderland on Canadian CHIN Radio & TV Network, are just too many to list here.
More importantly Claudio has, for the past three years, devoted a considerable amount of time and energy in promoting, producing and directing the Italian Original Song Festival involving artists from every corner of Australia presenting and performing new contemporary euro songs penned by Australian composers.
The concerts, featuring an impressive ten piece band complete with chorus, have been professionally staged at Crown Casino's Showroom, the Dallas Brookes Hall and the Melbourne Concert Hall.
The initiative shown by Claudio has been recognized and commended by various cultural bodies dedicated to the development of the arts (and in particular music) which augers well for the continuing future success of this event.
As an ardent supporter of original music composed by Australian writers, GMP can only join in the praise for Claudio's efforts with the knowledge that the experience and youthful enthusiasm of such a professional artist will prove invaluable for all those with whom he associates.
